Welcome to the Miracle Theatre Group!

The Miracle Theatre Group is committed to presenting works that exemplify the Hispanic experience through a culturally informed lens. Founders José Eduardo González and Dañel Malán began Miracle’s Hispanic artistic programming from a desire to recreate and share the cultural vivacity of their origins. Although their experiences were rooted in Mexican heritage, their mission has always been to present works that express the multicultural Hispanic experience.

Artistic Director Olga Sanchez joined Miracle inspired by the performances she witnessed while traveling in Latin America. Although varied in theme, those works shared a vibrant aesthetic, a blending of movement, dance, and music with poetic language to create visually stunning and visceral theatrical experiences.

Selecting works of poetic strength vitalized with corporal and visual impact, authenticity is a priority in the work presented by Miracle, insured by extensive research, consultation and collaboration with cultural experts, and tested against the personal experiences of artists and audience members.

Miracle seeks to present the freshest currents in Hispanic arts and culture, recognizing that the Hispanic experience is diverse, influenced by indigenous, European, African, as well as US culture, and ever-evolving.

Announcing Miracle Theatre Group’s 2008-2009, 25th Anniversary Season!

Celebrating 25 years of Latino arts and culture in Portland
Can you believe it’s been 25 years since José and Click for Season ScheduleDañel established an organization dedicated to Latino arts and culture right here in Portland? ¡Qué increíble! But it’s true! In September, the Miracle Theatre Group kicks off its silver anniversary season filled with a rare abundance of theatre and spectacle unlike anything else in the Northwest. Now that’s something to celebrate!

But we’re talking more than pan dulce and piñatas for this anniversary party. Our next season is more like tequila shots with salt and a wedge of lime. Heady, gritty and fun stuff, from the clashing cultures of Mexico and Portland to the glamorous show biz of Peron’s Buenos Aires. Nuyoricans haunted by
their past, Mapuche shamans uncertain of their future and California Chicanos suspended in the present … and of course those timeless muertos! At theMiracle, history and imagination collide in a miraculous season that is not for the faint of heart.

Miracle is a proud member of Theatre Communications Group, National Association of Latino Arts and Culture, Metropoitan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Northwest Businesses for Culture and the Arts, the Portland Area Theatre Alliance, and Central Eastside Industrial Council
